Problem
You have the ability to hack into the school computer system. You can change people’s grades. Would you change your own? Why or why not? What if you could change the grade for a basketball player who has a scholarship to play for a big university?
Why you should DO it. . .
There are many reasons you can change the grade for your fellow classmates and for yourself as well.
1. Ironically in this case, helping other people does affect yourself and the people around you. Changing the grade can help another person, for example in this case our fellow athlete, achieve a higher status and can brand themselves to a top university and the benefits that come with it.
2. The better situation can make you feel accomplished in what you have done, cheating the system can make you feel as if you were in control of the whole situation. People will respect you and even maybe you can profit out of other people's complication.
3. What you can milk the most of the situation and can help people along the way, although you may have to cheat through the system and keep in control, you can help people who are desperate to change their grade.
Why you SHOULDN'T do it. . .
However, you must think and realize the power that you are capable of.
1. The idea in general is cheating, and that you can be punished severly because of that capable ability that you have. If you are caught, it could result in a failing grade, dropping out the class or even being expelled from the school.
2. Even switching a simple small percentage of a number from the grade would immediately be recongnized. Teachers ususally have memory of student's grades, or usually have a last grade check system that they can see.
3. If in the likely event you do get caught (usually this happens) anyone who was involved in your plan such as who helped you in any way or who's grade you have changed, they will be in as much trouble as you are, and they will be brought down with you.
What would I do?
I wouldn't change my grade or help others to jepordize their reputation that colleges will see. Doing somthing wrong is bad to begin with, but keeping that mindset where you think you won't get caught is just as dangerous. Eventually it will become a habit and that is just as bad.
